Yesterday I happened to wander by the blog of an author whose books I have shipped to me from Australia. They’re only published in Australia and New Zealand, so I can’t buy them here in the States. The third book in her series was published there in the past week and I, of course, haven’t gotten it yet. So there I am at her blog, innocently reading a post that’s not about the book, when in the comments, I read a spoiler for book three from someone who’s already had a chance to read the book and wants to know what might happen in the next book. A major spoiler. Like…give-away-the-end-of-the-book type spoiler. For a book that I’ve been anticipating, that’s going to cost me a pretty penny to have shipped to the States (have you seen the shipping prices from Australia? You’ve got to love a purse that comes with jewelry, so to speak. The Scarlet Hobo by Elliott Lucca is accessorized with an assortment of metal, bead and leather charms and shockingly enough, my favorite color choice is the black! It’s also available in white, marina and green tea. You’d think I’d pick the marina or green tea, but no, I really like the contrast between the black pearlized leather and colored charms. I hope that the shoe barometer is not a indicator of the general state of fashion affairs. Perhaps my tastes have become more discriminating, but is it just me, or has the ugly shoe become increasingly present while the glamorous and the elegant have taken to the back burner?
